The Advocates for Consciousness and Social Involvement Society (ACSIS), the pioneering student-led advocacy organization of the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) has recently submitted its letter of application to AMSA-Philippines through their External Vice President Maria Victoria Torres. They expressed their intent to become a candidate member organization as they “believe that ACSIS, in line with [their] passion and dedication to building the Filipino nation, shares a common goal with AMSA-Philippines in the formation of the doctors of the future—an outstanding clinician, a dynamic leader and a social catalyst.”
“We believe that becoming a Local Member Organization of AMSA-Philippines will provide both our members broader opportunities in advocating for consciousness and social involvement beyond our respective school.
“Above all, our organization has confidence that an AMSA-Philippines membership will support Atenean doctors not only in our pursuit to become physician-leaders but also towards a deeper and greater participation towards nation building.” (Torres)
The AMSA-Philippines Executive Board AY2012-2013 voted today to elect ACSIS (ASMPH) to CMO status, where the organization can go through the application process to eventually get declared as a Local Member Organization/permanent member of AMSA-Philippines.
