The first General Assembly of AMSA-Philippines, attended by 10 members of the Executive Board and five Local Member Organizations, established two new AMSA-Philippines Standing Committees.
The Standing Committee on Reproductive Health and AIDS (SCORA) is brought back due to the increasing cases of AIDS in the Philippines, from 2 cases per month when SCORA was abolished two years ago to currently 8 cases per day. The EB deemed it as an immediate need and the establishment of SCORA can give way for advocacies to be more focused in the fight against AIDS.
The Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE) is brought back because of the aim to invigorate and strengthen the research activities of different member organizations and medical students. Also, the new committee will jump start feasibility studies on having a research exchange between the Philippines and other countries.
