Medical students' meet urges future doctors to become 'servant leaders'

MANILA, Philippines -- To the layman, mention of medical conferences typically conjures images of lectures filled with esoteric terms only practitioners can understand.

Not the National Medical Students’ Conference, though, where future doctors are encouraged to reflect on their role in nation building.

This year’s conference, the fourth in as many years, was held April 5 to 6 and was hosted by the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health in partnership with the Advocates for Consciousness and Social Involvement Society. The annual conference is held under the umbrella of The Asian Medical Students' Association Philippines.

The theme this year was “Building the Nation with Leadership, Innovation and Medicine." The conference included a research competition in support of upholding innovation.
